Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
