More than 36,000 people have fled Sudan's Kordofan territory eastern sector of Darfur starting Saturday, according to the UN's immigration body.

The strategic central area connecting the country's Darfur regions and the capital region has during recent weeks become the newest conflict zone in the 24-month civil conflict between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary forces.

Significant Displacement Numbers

An approximated 36,825 people escaped five areas in North Kordofan state between 26 October and 31 October, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The civilians, primarily walking, headed to Tawila, a town western side of El Fasher that is currently sheltering over 652,000 refugees.

Escalated Troop Concentration

Citizens of North Kordofan on Monday reported a significant increase in both RSF and army deployment across communities throughout the state.

Both forces are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan state capital and a important strategic and command center that links Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have gathered at the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently circulated video statement.

Regional Citizens Report Security Concerns

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, reported that the amount of RSF vehicles had risen significantly since the group's seizure of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, fearing fighting," the individual explained.

Another civilian, who sought confidentiality for protection purposes, also indicated that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the past two weeks.

World Concerns and Appeals

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "large-scale atrocities" and "race-driven revenge attacks" by RSF in Bara.

The representative warned of patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF fighters have been accused of mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against non-Arab ethnic groups.

The spiritual head on Sunday appealed for an prompt truce and the establishment of humanitarian corridors in Sudan, declaring that attacks on civilians and hindrances to humanitarian aid "are creating unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's official envoy to Egypt on Sunday alleged RSF of perpetrating war crimes in El Fasher and declared that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the paramilitary group.

The ambassador further called on the world nations to categorize the group as a terrorist organisation.
