Prolific young adult author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, as confirmed by the firm.

An official for the publisher said: "Upon deliberation, and with the guidance of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing additional books by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the decision was taken subsequent to an review of allegations of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at young women.

The publisher has not elaborated on the reasons for its decision, adding: "It is not our policy to discuss private personnel issues."

A Highly Successful Publishing History

Walliams ranks among Britain's most best-selling authors for kids, having sold more than 60 million copies worldwide in 55 languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins back in 2008.

A number of his titles, including *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as small-screen adaptations.

He has published in excess of 40 works combined, encompassing a holiday title called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

A Dual Career

He first rose to fame on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE several years ago in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO this past October.
